If you are still in education at 18 it is likely that you are considering one of two options: Higher education (HE) or Employment.
Why choose Higher Education?
It will help you develop personal skills It will give you a wider understanding of the world. It will develop career related skills. It is the only entry route to many careers It is the most common entry route to many other careers. It is an enjoyable experience for most students.
For information on making decisions about studying in HE see the pages on this site about the UCAS sponsored Merseyside Higher Education Conference.
Higher Education Conference
If you are in Year 12 at school or the first year at college, check if your school or college are booking to take students from your institution to the conference. If they are not doing this and you would like to attend please see the schools and colleges section of this web site for details of how you can attend. Similarly if you are a mature student please see the same instructions.

Why choose employment?
You will not have to take out a student loan or pay tuition fees. You get onto the career ladder earlier than those that go into HE - everyone has to get a job sometime so why not now? You can still do a part time degree.
