Bullying can be someone calling you names or someone hitting you.
It can also include spreading gossip or rumours, taking things away from you or damaging your belongings, sending abusive text messages or posting insulting messages on the internet or by IM (cyberbullying).
The people who are bullied are often people with a talent or who stand out from the crowd in some way.
If you are being bullied don’t suffer in silence: talk to someone: your Mum or Dad or carers, your teachers or Contact Connexions and speak to your Personal Adviser.
You may also want to consider, if possible, trying to stay away from the bullies and asking your friends to look out for you.
Keep a record – and save any nasty texts or emails that you have been sent.
Try not to fight back – you could get into trouble or get hurt.
If you are in school, check your school’s anti-bullying policy.
This will tell you what your school should do about bullying. And remember – bullying is never your fault.
